Tik Tok. I Don’t Get It!

I’ve been reading an awful lot about Tik Tok lately, and how much fun it is. Apparently, you can just go on to it and watch lots of exciting and / or funny videos to pass the time of day. Although I don’t get much time to look at videos etc. because, when I’m not doing stuff around the house or garden, I’m either at work, writing or spending quality time with Rachel and Bob. Anyway, I decided to give Tik Tok a go and downloaded it from Google Play. The first few videos were harmless enough: dogs running around, cats doing crazy things, people eating huge meals and rating them, but then I started to notice the odd, ‘Sexy’ video creeping in! These tend to take the form of busty women either being asked why they aren’t in uniform and then returning with barely nothing on or said women pulling at their tops until suddenly their tops disappear and they are left in their underwear! Now, I’m certainly no prude, but surely these women are setting back equality by decades by parading around in these videos? Don’t get me wrong, they are perfectly entitled to do whatever they want with their own bodies and, if that’s what they want to do with theirs, good luck to them. I just find the whole thing a little bit cheap. It reminds me of the Beautiful South song, ’36D’ and the line, ‘Is that all that you’ve got?’

I noticed on Facebook too that I was starting to see lots of dating ads, mainly about women looking for men. Curious as to why I was getting so many, I looked into it and, apparently, because I am in the postcode area that I am, I’m a white male and I’m aged between 25 and 55, that makes me the target market for all these adverts!! C’mon! Really? I’m a very happily married man who is more than content with what he has at home and who certainly doesn’t want to either look on dating sites or look at women who feel it necessary to demean themselves by virtually stripping for the camera and strangers!

I have now deleted the Tik Tok app from my phone and, instead, have started to watch more videos about writing, how to be a gentleman and how to dress with style.

‘Time to change Superman.’ : Bucks Fizz said that!
