My wife is a film fanatic and will watch films like most people breathe! We have a 65″ TV purely so that she can indulge in her hobby. We are both semi-retired and, as there is only us and Bob Dog at home, we have no real commitments outside of our working lives. We have the perfect life and are lucky enough to be able to please ourselves as to what we do and when we do it. Although we spend a lot of time with family and friends, we are happiest in front of the TV watching a good ‘ol film. My wife loves her horror films and her classic black and white movies, anything by Barbara Stanwyck or Janet Leigh are a must watch! She also has an encyclopaedic knowledge of all things film and she has forgotten more than I will ever know. I am a fan of science fiction films or DC films but we will both watch anything and everything. 

Recently we have taken to watching an old black and white movie together on a weekday afternoon, just like the old days of the matinees. It’s surprising how many old films that you have heard of but have never actually watched all the way through. Films like, The African Queen, The Birds, Some Like It Hot and many, many more! Too often we spend our time watching all the new stuff and yet there is so much of the old stuff out there just waiting to be discovered.

Try it some time. Watch something that is as old as you or, if you are still young, an old film that your grandparents would have watched. You never know, you may discover a whole new world of cinema!
