Way back in 2020, a good friend of the family passed away. I was at work, as a Funeral Director, when I overheard her name being read aloud on what we call a first call sheet. The family asked if I would go and collect her from our local hospice and I, along with another colleague was duly dispatched. On arrival, the husband of the deceased was making sure that everyone else was okay, which I thought was amazing! After spending some time talking with the family, I took the deceased lady into our care and, a few weeks later, visited the family at home in order to make all the funeral arrangements. A few weeks after that, we had a small ceremony at a local crematorium where, unfortunately, only about 22 people were allowed to attend. This low attendance was due to the Coronavirus pandemic and, had that not have happened, I believe that there would have been over 200 people gathered there to pay their last respects. Fast forward to tomorrow and we are all gathering at a local church in order to have a thanksgiving service for the life of the lady in question. I have no doubt that there will be a very large attendance and, in an odd way, I am looking forward to seeing the turnout! The lady in question was an amazing and beautiful soul who will never be forgotten.
