When I was growing up in the 70’s, the seasons and weather pretty much ran with the months! Spring was always from 1st March until 31st May, Summer ran from 1st June until 31st August, Autumn kicked in on 1st September until 30th November and December 1st until February 28th / 29th always brought us a cold Winter. Then, sometime in the 2000’s, things started to change. Suddenly, a July wedding could no longer guarantee sun and warmth. The frosty, cold and damp Christmases became like mini Summer holidays! Throughout the year, it seemed that the seasons had got their dates mixed up and were turning up as and when they felt like it! Three nights ago, for the first time ever in my 52 year life, I watched a spectacular sheet lightning display with absolutely no thunder!! So many people I spoke to the next day had completely missed it because the thunder wasn’t there to alert them to what was happening outside! In the South alone there were over 1,800 lightning strikes!! I know that many people blame global warming but that is only really a recent thing. This odd weather has been going on for decades! I started to build my new greenhouse the other day and was determined to get it finished within the week but, sadly, due to persistent rain, it has had to be put off until, hopefully, this Sunday. Don’t get me wrong, I much prefer the wind, rain and cold, but I definitely would rather not be outside working in it if I can possibly help it! Fingers crossed, the Spring / Summer weather will make a reappearance this weekend and I will be able to crack on with some more outdoor work. If I’m really lucky, I may even get the grass cut. looking at the calendar, it would also seem that the dates of the season changes, seem to be roughly a third of the way through the month. What’s that all about?!!! Strange things are definitely afoot!

Right! I’m off to walk Bob Dog before it rains. I’m fine if it does. Him not so!!
