The Happy Clappy Leaving Song

The title refers to the style of hand clap beat that I had in mind for this set of lyrics. (All of the lyrics on this website have tunes to go with them).

The tune for this is a very happy, upbeat one.

Although each verse starts off quite happy, the bitterness of the second half of each verse brings reality crashing in!

Chorus

Take me back to when life was simple, yeah.

Take me back to the days when I had your love.

‘Cause when I had your love, I could do most anything,

So, take me back, to when I was young.

Verse 1

I remember you, in the Summer time,

Lying in the long green grass,

In your cotton dress.

That cotton dress,

Oh, it did things to me!

Now it’s the summer time once again,

But you look a mess.

Verse 2

I remember you, in the Autumn time,

Kicking through the leaves,

As they lay on the ground.

I set my sights,

On forever babe.

You set your sights on my heart,

Then tore it out.

Chorus

Take me back to when life was simple, yeah.

Take me back to the days when I had your love.

‘Cause when I had your love, I could do most anything,

So, take me back, to when I was young.

Verse 3

I remember you in the Winter time,

When I proposed,

Sittin’ by the fire.

You said yes,

And my tears fell free,

So, I couldn’t see my dear,

That you’re a fucking liar.

Verse 4

We were quickly wed,

And then Spring came round.

I can see you now,

As you’re waving goodbye.

You took everything, I thought I’d never live,

Now all I’m living for,

Is the day you die.

Chorus

Take me back to when life was simple, yeah.

Take me back to the days when I had your love.

‘Cause when I had your love, I could do most anything,

So, take me back, to when I was young.

Chorus 2

We were so in love, we used to shout about it.

You were so in love with me, there could be no doubt.

There was no doubt, I was so in love with you.

But if you call this shit love, then I want out.
