In my line of work, hernias are quite common place. I have had 2 already and both have been successfully operated on however, a few years ago, I noticed a small soft lump on my chest area. The lump sits between my belly button and my sternum and is known as an epigastric hernia. Unfortunately, over the past year, it has started to grow and now, every time I do a press up, it touches the floor first, as if I have a small cushion under my t-shirt, and that’s not good! I have decided to get it operated on and I go for my operation on Monday 13th June. I have decided to go private because I need to be back at work by the beginning of September as that is when our, ‘Busy’ period begins, and I want to make sure that I am available to help the company out. I have no problem with the NHS, I have had several operations under them and have never had any issues at all. It’s just, in this instance, I can’t afford for the operation to be cancelled and I can’t really afford to wait over a year for an operation. As I can afford to go private, I believe doing so also frees up an appointment space for someone who can’t. I have been told that I am going to be out of action for 4 – 8 weeks and will still have to play it day by day with regard to going back to work. I am currently working out 6 days a week and will need to certainly watch what I eat whilst I am recovering from my op. as exercise. for at least a month after, is a definite no-no! I plan to spend the 8 weeks off, writing my new book and editing my last one. Hopefully, I’ll be in a position at the end of the year to launch something! I will keep you all updated!
