Great Day Out

So, before I begin, just want to say that I am definitely more awake than I was yesterday!! Never been so knackered in my life!

On December 11th 2020, after a good friend of mine was murdered, Rachel and I decided that we would both work part-time, in order to spend more quality time with each other and my elderly parents. Sadly, Rachel had lost both her parents to cancer in 2017, so it made sense to make memories. The plan was to have the rest of the year off and then start work again on January 1st 2021. Sadly, we all contracted Coronavirus over the Christmas period and, even worse, my father died because of it on January 10th 2021. Neither Rachel or I were well enough to go back to work until February and so it was that I returned to my part-time chauffeur / bearer role on February 2nd 2021. Exactly 10 days later, we had my father’s funeral. We both threw ourselves into work and, before I realised it, although I was only working anywhere between 3 and 6 hours a day, occasionally more, I was working EVERY day! Soon, part-time went out of the window and Rachel and I were fitting in time together around my work commitments, which is absolutely insane!! So, last week, I decided that, at least once a week, I am going to take a day off work and we are going to go out places, with Bob Dog and just explore! Today, we went to Milford on Sea! We got there around 10am, bought a coffee and sat outside in the sun before heading off along the spit towards Hurst Castle. After about half an hour of fairly easy walking we came to the castle, where we had a cold drink and a small piece of cake before venturing inside. Sadly, the largest part of the castle was closed as some of it had recently fallen into the sea, so we weren’t able to spend very long in there. However, we bought a kitsch fridge magnet and retraced our steps back along the spit. Once back at the car park, we had lunch in another nearby café / restaurant before heading home in the sunshine to spend the afternoon pottering around before settling down for the evening with a freshly bathed Bob Dog!!

Next Tuesday is our Wedding Anniversary and we are already planning the next trip!
